and One PostDoctoral Position in Mathematics LPSM (Laboratoire de Probabilités, Statistique et Modélisation - UMR 8001 of CNRS)

ERC AdG Smooth dynamics via Operators, with Singularities (SOS) - PI : Viviane Baladi

Application at the links: (PhD position) and (Postdoc) . Applications will be reviewed starting Feb 4, 2020. The postdoc and PhD position are also advertised on EURAXESS

(Due to an IT bug, the PhD position is incorrectly advertised also in History of Mathematics)

The candidate will be expected to work on topics related to the project "Smooth dynamics via Operators, with Singularities" including application of transfer operator methods to hyperbolic systems with low regularity and linear or fractional response.

The PhD student will benefit from the very stimulating scientific environment of Laboratoire de Probabilités, Statistique et Modélisation in Jussieu, Paris

The successful candidate should have a MSc in mathematics or mathematical physics, expertise in ergodic theory and dynamical systems, and interest in working with functional analytic methods.

Keywords: Ruelle resonances/transfer operators/hyperbolic dynamics/billiards/ linear response/susceptibility function/ergodic theory

Applications will be reviewed starting Feb 4, 2020.

Please ask two references to send letters of recommendation to baladi@lpsm.paris

The position is available from September 1, 2020 for 36 months.
